There are several war journalist movies now - Tina Fey makes this one watchable.
Went in with low expectations and was surprised by a solid, well-cast and well-directed movie, based on a US war reporter's book (The Taliban Shuffle). It is funny as well as grim. The only problem... Read more is that of any story constructed around just 3 pivotal years of someone's life - it's a slice, no more, and you feel you need to know more than that.
This was a really solid, informative, entertaining movie. I really enjoyed it.
THIS IS NOT A COMEDY!! That was the first mistake I made when I saw a title of WTF and starring TF. It is kind of ironic that part of the storyline talks about how people were uninterested in Afghanistan... Read more in 2006. How are they going to be interested in 2016 about the same BS?? I think this movie was just a vanity piece that some (good) reporter convinced a studio head to make her story into a movie and pleased the hundred or so people that have direct knowledge of the events and that is all. TF does a good job acting and BBT is funny in his role as a Marine general, but is besides the point of this average movie.
Started well but, without a solid or memorable story from the lead character, it didn't go anywhere and faded into little more than a biography that was neither very serious nor funny.
