An absolute stunner of a movie. From start to finish it's a beautiful watch. Not however for the faint hearted or squeezy of stomach. Oscar winning performance by DiCaprio, and the cinematography was to die for.
One of the most overrated movies I've ever seen. Leo's good as always, but he was far more deserving of his other Oscar wins than this. Worth a watch, for sure, but don't expect too much unless you're a gore fan.
I watched most of this, but left my husband to it while I did some research on the subject. The bear attack was probably one of the most valid experience for Hugh Glass. Apparently it was a lady bear... Read more with two cubs, and took place in Springtime and not Winter, so the attack made sense. If the bear attacked in the Spring, then Hugh Glass would have been in the mountains in Spring and Summertime which would make survival more believable. Seems like a lot of the Mountain Men may have generated some fanciful tales of their own, and these may have been included in this movie. Philip St. George Cooke wrote about Hugh Glass so I may do some more exploring on my own. (Red Feather blog).
Amazing cinematography. Thats about all the film has going for it as it is critic porn. Anybody who has spent time in the wilderness will find it unbelievable. The bear would have been hibernating that... Read more time of year so the film lost its credibility with us then. About as factually accurate as 'The Grey'. Just watch Cast Away instead.
The best film I've seen in some time. I'm so happy I saw this on the largest screen I could as every single shot in this film is stunning. One of the best looking films I've ever seen. DiCaprio and... Read more Hardy are excellent. Sure it was long but not in a slow way, in an epic way. I didn't even notice the length. Only minor complaint would be I didn't feel too emotionall invested in it, but the good FAR outweighs the bad.
The film shoots itself in the foot by being far too long and therefore loses its impact. The story drags. Its a pity because the location shooting is stunning. The stunt work and the animal training are also commendable.
Not as great as people say, but well worth a look at this gripping story. LDC was top notch and the story moves along well. You know what you are going to get and it does not disappoint.
absolute awesome movie from start to finish, would reccomend to anybody.Music is good, everything is good to watch
Wot's there to say; Fox does it again with visons of others womp or did i say terrible editing or to be fair, dare i say it, it could be miscast but makes it a watch if ya like scenes and shit. 2 much... Read more muny could be beta spent onna oliday, if Caprio wasn't innit it woulrdn't be much good, tellie and others have dunnit betta 2 deth, alas not my movie but thn it shouldn't have to b. movies need 2 catch up with music. it's about giving up not being hopeless DIRECTOR.
To say it's sensational would have to be an understatement. It's an incredible film on all counts. And it feels so fresh, which is no mean feat for a filmmaker today. The performances are all brilliant... Read more and it would have to be one of the most stunningly beautiful films to look at - ever. How the super smooth camera work was achieved in such difficult territory is amazing. If you can, see it in Bluray on a really big screen. And it's nail bitingly exciting. Fantastic film.
