Powerful film showing a different outcome for people caught up in the activities of World War Two. First class acting and intriguing storyline.
Now this was a brilliant movie, excellent in fact. Well acted, well written and with a fascinating storyline. Just enough to keep you guessing while you slowly figure out the gaps. Really interesting too.
This is a well acted, beautifully filmed and thought provoking movie. The images lingered in my mind long after it finished, which is a sign of a good movie, for me. It raised more questions for me... Read more than it answered, so I will be reading the book to (hopefully) fill in the gaps. I would recommend this film.
An emotional film on many levels, well acted and authentic. On one hand you feel sorry for Winslets character and on the other hand she gets what she deserves. Very thought provoking and more of a... Read more feel bad movie as opposed to a feel good. Five stars from me for daring to explore areas that most films avoid.
Fantastic movie. Really enjoyed this film. Kate Winslet is great
Loved this movie!! A great watch from beginning to end!!
Thought-provoking and simply powerful. There are just so many beautiful scenes and stories in this movie. I thoroughly recommend watching this one. This movie is a true inspiration to life itself.
This was such a thought-provoking film that my partner and I were talking about it for days after watching it. It questions all the beliefs we have about the nature of personal values of good and evil... Read more.
I was sitting in a bus the other day behind a German tourist aged in his mid-twenties. I noticed that he was paying particular attention to the war memorials as we passed through various country towns, and wondered what he was thinking. How would it feel to visit a former 'enemy' country and be confronted with the evidence of war and destruction, particularly in such a distant place? Would you feel guilty? Amused? Anything? Obviously he was feeling something, or he wouldn't have been so interested.
It seems that there are a lot of movies around at the moment addressing the questions of how the National Socialist Party came to power, how individuals dealt with living under the regime and how their lives (and those of the next generation) were affected by being part of it. 'Good' examines the basic material, but doesn't have the personal impact that this movie has. In 'Good' all the questions are answered. This movie leaves a lot to be worked out by the viewer.
I don't know if I 'liked' this movie, but it certainly made me think. The production values were excellent as well, and the ending allowed some openness, avoiding saccharine conclusions.
A stunning movie that has you mesmerised right from opening to the very end. Recommended watching for everyone.
NOw this is a good movie. There aren't too many of them but the acting and the sttory of this movie make an intriguing tale more fascinating.
