Really slow and ... boring, sad to say. You can tell it's based on a very slim novel. There's very little character development or much depth at all. If you're a science buff, you'll likely find it... Read more enjoyable. At least visually it's stunning - but then, you'd expect that from Ridley Scott.
Puzzled as to why it was chosen for / won best comedy at the Grammy's - then we saw it and understood why ! Wonderful to have a movie go like this - I must be getting older
Fantastic, Robinson Crusoe on Mars. Really enjoyed this drama not comedy as the golden globes voted it. A bit geeky with all the physics but hey that's science.
Thank goodness I watched this with someone who had read the book and understood the maths/physics/science behind what was going on. Some parts of the book (particularly at the end cough *jetpack*) were... Read more changed to make a better story but otherwise it was entertaining.
Clever sets, thin story but imaginative and scarey.

Better than I expected. Lots of 'really - you can do that?' moments. I was especially pleased that my 'he needs some gaffer tape right now' comment was operationalised seconds after I said it. I'm dubious... Read more that NASA would do what NASA did in this movie, but I guess until there's an actual test case, we'll never know.
The set designs are fine but for most of its length the story telling drags and needs pop music to back it up. The ending is predictable and soft.
Matt Damon played his part very well. A good amalgamation of sci-fi and human interest. Holds your interest the whole way through
