Lincoln Six-Echo (Ewan McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to “The Island” – reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet – until he makes a terrible discovery that everything about his existence is a lie and that he is actually more valuable dead than alive. He and all the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide “spare parts” for their original human counterparts.

Together with a beautiful resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Scarlett Johansson), Lincoln makes a daring escape to the outside world he has never known. Now, with the forces of the institute that once housed them relentlessly hunting them down, led by head of security, Laurent (Djimon Hounsou), Lincoln and Jordan engage in a desperate race for their lives.

The cast also includes Steve Buscemi as McCord, a man who befriends Lincoln despite working for the institute, and Michael Clarke Duncan as Starkweather, another resident selected to go to “The Island”.

Yeah this turned out to be a good flick. I wasn't sure, based on comments from others... but we both really enjoyed it.

Didn't really enjoy this movie. Action was okay, but nah...it didn't work for me. A typical clone flick and Ewan McGregor is just annoying.

A fun movie that makes you wonder if it's really a near-future version of New Zealand? And a very young ScarJo in a vacuum-formed tracksuit for most of the movie? What's not to like?

The first hour is pure sci - fi and better than the second when the action gradually takes over but in its own right it is impressive. Buscemi steals his scenes.

Um-a bit too long, bit unbelievable, I like Ewan McGregor, but think he was wasted on this. A bit of a chic-flit-too many impossibly skinny blondes!!

i don't usually see films like this - so maybe it's a hackneyed plot? but anyways - it was an interesting concept. Ewan McGregor got to play with flash toys, characters all impossibly good looking... Read more
