Great tension. The environment really provides a claustrophobic element above other horror films - the first half of the film is pretty creepy. The second half really kicks it up a notch and gets the... Read more adrenaline going. All in all a great horror film.
The Descent starts really well - the characters are quickly established and are well acted by an above average cast. The initial exploration of the cave system is well done, with... Read more a great combination of wonder at the environment, and tension as the women worm themselves deeper into trouble.
But it takes a very disappointing wrong turn in the second half, when they encounter the horror lurking deep within the caves. From then on, it reverts to standard, telegraphed jump-scares and horror film cliches. The engaging characters established in the first part are swamped in a frenzy of loud music, desperate editing and soon-tiresome gross special effects.
By the end an initially tense and unsettling film has settled for being just another horror b-movie scare romp.
Loved it. Even moments of hiding behind the cushion. Good story with feelings of claustrophobia throughout. Wont be going Caving ... ever!
We liked this DVD as you just couldnt predict what happened next and it kept you glued to the screen it was great.
Could have been great, but wasn't. Another cave flick that rips off a bunch of older short stories & can't even work a good idea from (someone else's) silver platter. Brutal, stupid, ultimately boring. Annoying.
I thought this was a good movie, there was some jumping moments that freaked me out, ending left you thinking.... wtf?
This film was fantastic, some good 'jump' moments. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in search of a good horror film to watch. Enjoy!!!
Wasn't expecting much from this movie but it's not too bad. Had a couple of the best "jump out of your skin" moments that I have come across in a movie for awhile. Much better than "The Cave".
Not the best of Horror movies but it makes the grade, JUST, due to the graphic beginning and then the follow up as the movie goes on
The Descent starts promising and scary but ends up in a total stupid alien crap plot. Rather funny than scary really. Very disappointing cause trailer looked great!
