I didn't watch this My husband did and he must of enjoyed it because he thanked me for getting it for him and sad it was really good. A firet for me he never likes what i choose!!!
Scary at the start, but lost credibility by becoming totally unrealistic in the'what people would do' part as well as (obviously) in the weather part - eg good old dad walking hundreds of miles in weather... Read more that was killing everyone else and not even getting frost on his face and getting all warm and cosy in a flimsy pup tent. I don't think so.
Firstly, I'm a sucker for these disaster plot based films with heaps of special effects. To me thats one way of achieving escapism. The acting was slightly above average, special efffects were amazing... Read more, the plot......well its downright thin. But hey, at least the wrapping (special efx/action) around the average tasting candy kept me entertained.
This movie has the cinematographic proportions of an ice-age LOTR, the harrowing reality of Fahrenheit 911, and a storyline that just touches on Independence Day - replace Aliens with Mother Nature... Read more. Although slightly predictable, The Day after Tomorrow has all the features to make it a thoroughly enjoyable watch: an unbeatable force, arrogant presidential advisors who can't see the wood through the trees, a father/son hero mix, a love interest, and of course, seeing the Statue of Liberty under snow. Highy recommended, even just for the scare factor, but you are also rewarded with amazing graphics and the chance to see the ultimate power fight back against resource-hungry humans.
Even though I gave this movie one star - I loved it. Why, because it's sooo shocking.
Every cliche in the book is here. The homeless man teaching a rich kid how to stay warm by insulating with... Read more newspapers. The cute dog. The family torn apart are united in the search for their son. The dialogue - oh boy, give me a break!
The wolves are the worst CGI I've ever seen. The plot - well let's just say you could drive a bus through the holes. How did that ship fit into the street outside the library! Never mind.
Basically, turn your brain off and enjoy the special effects. Otherwise, just laugh at the unbelievably bad dialogue and enjoy. Big, dumb, unbelievable fun.
From what I'd heard this movie was fairly average. I was pleasantly surprised that it kept me fairly entertained and engaged.
While not the greatest movie ever, it is an enjoyable film to relax... Read more to (or even if you just want to see New York get hit with tidal waves).
i usually dont like global disaster movies, the majority of them just follow one group and dont elaborate on what the rest of the world will experiance very well. i enjoyed this movie, and the reason... Read more is, the scale, this film had massive scale and it truely diminished the importance of the lead human characters, which is something that movies the likes of deep impact fail to do in my opinion, one thing about this movie, if you were to remove the global weather catastrophie and put zombies in its place it would be an even better movie.
The plot idea is good and the special effects but there are too many distractions and sub-plots.
Entertaining and edge of seat, but became a litle boring after so much the same thing
What a great movie of how the world could get if we let it, it is an extreame case but as good movie to see.
