Chick flick with sci-fi. The 'fate vs. free will' storyline has some good ideas but few surprises - by-the-numbers and (painfully) predictable, especially the last half. I still really enjoyed the good... Read more performances - excellent chemistry and very sharp dialogue between Matt Damon and Emily Blunt in particular, and it was quite fun watching John Slatterly slowly unravelling.
The good things about this movie: the cinematography (New York looks dazzling) and acting by Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. However, the basis of the movie is a short story by Philip K. Dick, and short... Read more stories usually struggle to convert into feature-length films. Also, what must've seemed fresh and exciting ideas back in Dick's day are now a bit shop-worn. But if you're after an evening's easy entertainment, with some action and a nice love story, you could do a lot worse than this amiable movie.
Not sure whether this was more of a romance story or a Sci Fi movie. It had both in it, and in some ways was a great story, and in other ways quite silly. Towards the end I was getting bored with... Read more it and lost interest, but still stayed with it. Certainly not Matt Damon's best movie by a long shot.
A frustrating movie with a flawed premise and weak storyline. David never thinks to ask who these men (note, all men) really are and where did they come from. They clearly have been around for millennia:... Read more are they human or alien, and their only real power lies in their magical hats? David is told firmly by Thompson that humans have no free will, and yet it is the exercise of David's free will that ends the movie!?
Interesting movie. Mind challenging storyline - on the mystical side - but interesting ideas.
Uneven but the sci - fi segments are worth watching.
Was good, enjoyed by both my husband and myself. Not mind blowing but kept us interested.
For the fans of soft SF but it is a romance as well. It is a good introduction to discover the works of Philip K. Dick. This movie is of course less complex thanks the novel.
Sci-fi not my thing weird even with good acting from Matt Damon
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Light and fun. Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and cast did a great job. Just the sort of movie for an enjoyable evening.
