good performances by mel gibson and joaquin phoenix. this movie definitely keeps your attention. there is a bit of suspense, a little humour and its a bit of a heart jerker
This is my favourite Horror/Thriller/Suspense movie. Obviously the acting will be good, I mean come on it stars Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix. But some scenes are specifically scary. A must watch!
Really bad screen play. I like Mel Gibson but why did he choose this role? A movie that has almost no plot. the plot is 'alien invades the earth leaving behind silly symbols and gets beaten by base ball bat.
To its credit it has at least more Sci fi than action sequences although the water solution is a bit weak. The suspense around the invaders is well handled. Mel struggles with the acting bit of his performance but the kids see him through.
I had never seen this movie, thinking that it may be a bit slow. Finally I decided to give it a go and am glad I did! It is quite compelling and also suspenseful in an eerie so of way. Kept me glued... Read more to the screen until the very end. The final confrontation with the alien, was really well done and provided a great climax to the whole story.
Absolutely brilliant movie. Mel Gibson, Jaoqin Phoenix and the two children were very well cast. I was on the edge of my seat and loved every minute. Thoroughly recommend to those who enjoy a thriller.
Missing in this film it the surprise ending of Shyamalans The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. There is no mystery - there are aliens and they are not here to be friends. Admittedly it does take about... Read more 45 minutes to confirm this but once it is out there the mystery is gone. This film is a look at faith and God and how an event in someones like can alter that forever. Mel Gibson and Joaquim Pheonix are excellent together as brothers. Mel's Graeme a former minister and now farmer who has had his faith in God destroyed by the death of his wife in a tragic car accident. Pheonix as his brother once a contender for the Major Leagues of baseball but now with his life on hold to help his brother. Certainly Shyamalan builds tension well in the film and his writting it also excellent. Although not up there with his two other efforts it is still a haunting and emotional film. Shyamalan gives himself a bit more of a cameo in this one as the Vet who killed Graeme's wife. His cameos are almost as prolific as Peter Jacksons!
this was a good film with a good story, full of suspense, acting was of a good quality...excellent
