Mort Rainey, a successful author, is passing through a hard period in his life. After catching his wife sleeping with another man, he divorces and moves away from the city to somewhere in the country. One day a man appears at his door, presenting himself as John Shooter, and accuses Mort of copying a story from him. Although Mort believes things can be solved once he shows Shooter the original version, which had appeared two years before Shooter's version [Shooter wrote his in 1997. Rainey's was published in early 1995.], he can't seem to be able to get an original copy in the time limit set by Shooter. Strange things start happening which prevent him from receiving the needed original and Mort tries to find out who Shooter really is and if he is responsible for the things which happen.

Very slow thriller. Johnny Depp played a writer who was very disturbed and you weren't sure if it was his mind or was it real. Beautiful scenery though!!!

Rather a dark movie about a writer that looses the plot when his wife leaves him for another man. Great acting by Johnie Depp

Johnny Depp is, as we know, a talented actor, so this film is worth a watch. Some will enjoy it, others will find it a little slow-moving. But if... Read more

Interesting concept for a thriller, well written by Stephen King and well acted by Johnny Depp.

It was okay. Nothing too flash. Johnny Depp is in fine form but then would we really expect any less? Kind of a pushed story, like being forced to hold hands with someone but not knowing their name until the end. Nice is all.

The ending of this film is telegraphed from the opening shot, and since the ending is such a lame ending the viewer is stuck with a daft plot and a stupid script for 90 minutes whilst trying to understand... Read more

A bit predictable, I think I don't really like Stephen King movies, this was like trying to be scary and not really much of a twist. Watchable but not a good watch

I didn't like this movie, I thought Johnny Depp was miscast here. It was totally confusing and idiotic.
