couldn't sit through this - don't really know why but it bored me for some reason.
Frustratingly bad movie. Most of the time I was squinting my eyes trying to make out what was going on the ridiculously low-lit scenes while the mumbling actors were mixed so low I could barely hear... Read more them. I get that Mann does the whole 'cinema-verite' style of direction but you have to make it watchable too. Didn't help that the story was dull, action dull, characters dull. Totally missed opportunity. One great death scene and some nice cars the best I can say about the whole thing.
Boring... Turned it off before it finshed. Such a good cast and what a average movie.
Very average gangster film, even the shootouts don't really catch your attention. Johnny Depp just doesn't come across as the kind of a bad guy the script makes Dillinger out to be and the occasional... Read more self righteous outbursts against bad manners just seem hollow. By the time Dillinger's girl was being bashed about by male cops in some sort of advertisement against domestic violence I was ready to turn it off.
Interesting reviews on this movie. I really enjoyed it. Love Johnny Depp in it.
Johnny Depp is an exceptional actor. Yes the plot is predictable as it is a docu-drama. The quality of the sets etc is very high. Maybe I had the time to watch it over a quiet Christmas.
Impressive attention to detail in props and set designs. It shouldn't have taken over 2hrs to tell a straight forward story though. The acting talent on display not really tested. Everyone had a hat... Read more and a machine gun so it was hard to pick who was who.
Always love Johnny Depp, but this movie disappointed in so many ways as attested by most of the reviews here. Not even average.
I was really disappointed by this movie as I enjoy a good 1930's gangster movie. But, it just never seemed to get going and didn't seem to have a clear focus in the storyline. I actually gave up watching... Read more it as it just dragged from shoot out to shoot out.
Worst Johnny Depp movie I've seen. I got the feeling he was bored with it half way through also.
