The story of musician Dalvanius Prime and the origin of the song "Poi E", a ground-breaking fusion o 1980s pop and traditional Maori music. "Poi E", composed by Dalvanius and Ngoingoi Pewhairangi and performed by the Patea Maori Club, remains the only song in Te Reo Maori to reach No 1 in the charts, over 30 years since its 1984 release.

This is very interesting, not only because of the vivacity and joy that comes from the song itself, but because of the social history that changed as a result. Good, entertaining, informative move. A Keeper

Loved this piece of history. It's made with much warmth, humour and appreciation of the people involved. Great film.

Shameful that the government wouldn't fund them and he had to mortgage his house.

Just awesome. I didn't know enough about this story and what was involved in getting this song to its fruition and success. Fantastic to learn more of the genius of Dalvanius Prime. It's pure New Zealand as it once was. Highly recommended.
