1975 M Contains low level offensive language.

If he's crazy, what does that make you?

When free-spirited petty crook Randle P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) arrives at the state mental hospital, his contagious sense of disorder jolts the routine. He's on one side of a brewing war, soft-spoken, cooly monstrous Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher) on the other. At stake is the fate of every patient on the ward. Seen here in a revitalized digital transfer from refurbished elements, this electrifying adaptation of Ken Kesey's acclaimed bestseller swept all five major 1975 Academy Awards: Best Picture (produced by Saul Zaentz and Michael Douglas), Actor (Nicholson), Actress (Fletcher), Director (Milos Forman) and Adapted Screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman). Raucous, searing and with a superb cast that includes Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd in his film debut, it soars.

Jack Nicholson pulls off an amazing performance in this classic film that has all the right elements. Quite simply one of the best films I have ever seen. Rent and enjoy.

it's not often a movie gets my five stars, but I'd give it even more if I could for a performance of virtuoso acting from all concerned. Wonderful.

It's as though he was born to play this role. Heart wrenching stuff in the end. Stays with you.

DVD faulty, could only watch half, up to the boat trip!!

A justified classic, some great acting and true-to-life, which is unusual for an American movie.

Most films of this vintage show signs of age, but not this one. Fresh and confronting. Louise Fletcher is brilliantly restrained as the tightly wound control freak.

4.5 by Brindi

This movie is just as sensational today as it was when it first came out. Please can we have more movies of this standard.

Stunning movie. I will never forget the evil Miss Ratched! Brilliant acting and plenty of food for thought.

One of my favourite movies ever, all the actors are superb and Jack Nicholson is outstanding. Really entertaining and humorous as well as thought-provoking.

This film is good, but I think it was slightly ruined by the fact that I had read the book a few times in my life before finally watching the film. As we all know, the book always makes the film seem... Read more
