Let's talk about sex.

Academy Award-winning writer Bill Condon (GODS AND MONSTERS, CHICAGO) explores the life of the man considered the pioneer of human sexuality research, Alfred Kinsey (Liam Neeson). Spanning six decades from his childhood in the early 1900s to his death in 1956, the film turns the microscope on the man whose landmark studies on the sexual behaviours of the common man rocked a nation. The interviewer of tens of thousands, Kinsey subjected his own life and that of his researchers to the same type of analysis that produced his 1948 best-selling book.

When Kinsey publishes his Male study in 1948, the press compares the impact to that of the atom bomb. But as the country enters the more paranoid Cold War era of the 1950s, Kinsey's follow-up study on women is seen as an attack on basic American values. The ensuing outrage and scorn causes Kinsey's benefactors to abandon him, just as his health begins to deteriorate.

At the same time, the acrimony caused by Kinsey's attempt to create a private sexual utopia threaten to tear apart the research team and expose them to unwelcome scrutiny.

There was very little point to this movie. Everything was dealt with on the surface only. I found it quite tedious to watch. There were a couple of interesting facts, but more could have been made of this whole movie.

Definitely, NOT a family movie. Great for scientists and anyone with an open mind to understand how hard it can sometimes be to achieve what you want and how your actions can affect the lives of other people in ways that you cannot imagine.

It's a fascinating story, but it needs to be much more frank to have an impact. We should be as startled by people's revelations as they would have been, but we never are. Good cast, but it's stagy... Read more

This film had its moments, Liam Neeson is always good and I like Oliver Platt. But the story just wasn't very interesting. Bill Sadler's character was approached in a puritanical fashion, unsavory... Read more

Interesting movie and good performances which held my attention for the duration. The story of Kinsey is handled well and it is a good reminder of how the values of society have changed in such a short time.

I would not recommend this one for general family viewing! It does contain some fairly raw footage and is the tale of an extraordinary man on an equally extraordinary journery into discovering the... Read more
