There was very little point to this movie. Everything was dealt with on the surface only. I found it quite tedious to watch. There were a couple of interesting facts, but more could have been made of this whole movie.
This movie was absolutely brilliant, Liam Neeson was excellent as usual, with him as lead you can be assured of great viewing pleasure. Would appeal to an older viewer who remembers the straight laced... Read more views of the world regarding sex before Kinsey hit the scene.
Definitely, NOT a family movie. Great for scientists and anyone with an open mind to understand how hard it can sometimes be to achieve what you want and how your actions can affect the lives of other people in ways that you cannot imagine.
Don't watch this movie if you want a fun, sexy and light hearted evening, or If you want a "date movie" be sure to turn the movie off 2/3s of the way in. This movie explores every aspect of human sexuality... Read more and human behaviour, from marriage, to multiple partners, to religion, to biological function, to performance, to physical attributes, to homosexuality, to exploration, to sexual "forensics," yet if you strip away all the titillation and excitement, you are left with a mature, enduring and unwavering love story between Kinsey and his wife. This research about sexual behaviour, which has now become common knowledge for the most part, cost Kinsey dearly, and he could see it's value, even when nobody else did. His wife was a wise woman, and understood his drive and determination, weathering all the storm for so many years, and providing unwavering support and loyalty. So, if you want to see what makes a relationship last, this movie is packed with hints and examples. But, you must be willing to stomach all of the content, including the hideous statistics and personal reports of the most reprehensible sexual behaviour. If you cannot bear to hear the details of pedophilia and incest, sexual hazing, gay bashing reported in a calm and factual manner much like listening to a sports commentator, SKIP THIS MOVIE!
It's a fascinating story, but it needs to be much more frank to have an impact. We should be as startled by people's revelations as they would have been, but we never are. Good cast, but it's stagy... Read more, and way too cautious. Peter Sarsgaard in terrific as always.
This superb movie follows Kinsey through his life, and most importantly his ground breaking sexual study of americans.
Looking into his life and family this movie shows us a view of the man that... Read more we often do not get to see.
An amazing and well acted movie this is a great documentary.
This film had its moments, Liam Neeson is always good and I like Oliver Platt. But the story just wasn't very interesting. Bill Sadler's character was approached in a puritanical fashion, unsavory... Read more and not sympathetic at all. A story about sex education, but there was no real conflict. Even the relationship issues were at a distance. The father/son relationship with John Lithgow as the father was concluded far too quickly for something that was supposed to be so important in the Kinsey character's life. An indie version of this may have drawn this out more. But none of the potential conflict was focused on, it was an uninspiring story of a nature lover's attempt to become a famous professor/author.
Interesting movie and good performances which held my attention for the duration. The story of Kinsey is handled well and it is a good reminder of how the values of society have changed in such a short time.
felt more like a docomentary then a movie. would not have gone to see it at the big screen. but must say was good as it gave the insigth into how the sexual revolution in america all started.
I would not recommend this one for general family viewing! It does contain some fairly raw footage and is the tale of an extraordinary man on an equally extraordinary journery into discovering the... Read more sexual habits of Americans in a very conservative time. An interesting watch but cringe making at times mostly due to the idiosyncracies of Kinsley and his followers.
