What a waste of money and talent. Why so many reviewers gave it such high marks is an interesting question for which I have no answer.
I thought this was a disjointed, un-engaging, silly mess... Read more of a film. Samuel Jackson was brilliant, no question, and Colin Firth did a great job before the script descended into cliched rubbish. Taron Egerton had no presence, his character was bland and wishy-washy, and continually repeating the word 'f**k' does not an angry blue-collar lad make.
There were some good jokes, some clever dialogue and some great action, but it just didn't gel. The director was too obvious in his role - it's a real try-hard film that ultimately fails. And, as for the ending, and the princess's backside - that was just embarrassingly puerile.
I thought the Bourne films were excellent, and I enjoy the Bond and some Avenger films, but this was "nothing" like them.
Note, I also enjoy some of the Marvel films, but I just thought this film was rubbish.
In the best James Bond tradition, this is an absurd non-stop send-up of killer spies like Bond, Bourne and Bauer. We loved the subtle humour and if you think you'll enjoy a suave super-spy Colin Firth... Read more slaying bad guys, then sit back and relish the fun.
This movie is based on a comic book series, itself a spoof of James Bond and other classic spy films.
So while I agree that it could be seen as "try-hard" if you aren't aware of the background... Read more, I believe it is unfair to dismiss it out of hand just because of that. This is one movie that could become a cult classic.
Taron Egerton and Colin Firth are amazing together, and the rest of the cast are just as brilliant. I can't wait to see what the young talent from this film gets up to next.
Pretty crazy at times.
And Sam L Jackson what's with the lisp? It's just unnecessary. It adds nothing to the film so why did they bother?
Otherwise a fun flick...
If you can tolerate the gimmicks it is entertaining at times.
So-so spy action movie. Not that much of a thriller, and certainly not a comedy.
I agree with the reviewer who branded it a waste of money and talent.
Samuel L Jackson completely miscast... Read more as the baddie, Colin Firth dead-pan as ever, his young protege too baby-faced and lacking in character. Even the doddering Michael Caine couldn't pull a performance out for this.
Enjoyable escapism but the end was rubbish. Unfortunately it became the lasting impression.
This is a love or hate type of movie. Lots of violence, some decidedly disturbing images that will remain in your mind for a while and that all-too-typically British talent for black comedy comes through... Read more clearly. Thoroughly enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously.
Great cast, great characters and a strong script with well executed action scenes. Kingsman is an enjoyable action film.
Well I thought it was an okay film, but then that joke towards the end. Not funny and actually ruined the film for me.
