I absolutely loved this movie. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams are both brilliantly cast. A feelgood movie skewed more towards female viewers - and those who love food! Amy Adams' character, Julie, turns... Read more 30 and has a bit of a crisis about what she has (or hasn't) achieved in life so makes a resolve to cook through Julia Childs (et al) cookbook, "Mastering The Art of French Cooking" in 365 days and blog about it. The movie is as much about self-discovery as anything and how integral food and cooking is to family/friends/relationships. Top performances all round.
I enjoyed this movie but I have to say I preferred the scenes with Meryl Streep. Interesting for foodies to learn a little more about what made the great Julia Child tick.
Was somewhat disappointed in this movie, and found the character of Julia incredibly irritating, albeit I acknowledge Meryl Streep's devotion to excellent characterisation. Really enjoyed this movie. A great chicks true flick.
We couldn't help but laugh at the voice Meryl Streep used! It was a nice feel good movie. Although it did jump back and forth between the two characters which I'm not a fan of!

I think this movie is fantastic and I watched it with a large group of women (5) aged from 71 down to 31 and all of us enjoyed it.
If you are looking for a moving to watch with your Mum or any older woman this is the one! Every one remembers Julia Child and it makes it even easier to love because you do!
When this film was released it seemed that every second film was a bloody cooking film - it is another bloody cooking film but it has Meryl with a lovely slightly over the top performance and she makes all the difference.
Sometimes the great Meryl Streep drives me nuts - and in this she outdid herself. Stanley Tucci steals the film as he often does. But Meryl is just too much. And way more irritating than the real thing... Read more. I couldn't stand it. But it was a hit. So go figure!
Thoroughly enjoyable. Thought both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams played their parts wonderfully. Was very interested to find out more about Julia Child.
What an interesting character she was.
