2009 M Suitable for mature audiences 16 years and over.

Oscar winners Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek team up to tell the true story of irascible Felix Bush, a backwoods Tennessee loner who planned his funeral in 1938 while he was still around to attend -- and enjoy -- the proceedings. Director Aaron Schneider's deft blend of dark humor and poignancy also stars Bill Murray as Frank Quinn, the huckster owner of a failing funeral home, and Lucas Black as his dubious assistant.

I loved this. The more I watched, the more it grew on me. I didn't think black comedy described it at all, I thought it was rather sweet, without being mawkish or sickly. Quietly amusing in parts.

Great movie, true story, and good acting by the main characters. Refreshingly refined and well worth watching. Amusing but not black comedy. We loved it.

This film definitely isn't your "usual Hollywood" one; it is quite refined and quiet, but touches a sensitive topic, certainly not a black one. Actin is excellent.

Loved it! Such a different film from what we have come to expect from Americans. Well worth a watch.

Found myself utterly bored by this film which was no fault of the actors who lived up to their vast reputations. The Director didn't get much out of the story for me, and I found the pace plodding. Not my cup of tea.
