They built the city to see what makes us tick. Last night one of us went off.

From Alex Proyas, the acclaimed Australian director of The Cross and I Robot, a film that takes you to the heart of a terrifying world and leaves you there.... John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) awakens in the bath of a strange hotel to discover that he is wanted for a series of brutal murders. He has no recollection of the killings; in fact, he has no memory of anything. A phone call warns him that men are coming to get him. He escapes into the city and plunges headlong into a labyrinth of twisted truths, hideous crimes and heart-stopping pursuits. Murdoch is at the centre of a terrifying nightmare and on a mind-altering journey in the place where everything is controlled - even your memories - Dark City.

BIZZARE, to say the least. Poor story, poor acting, poor dialogue (thankfully most of takes place at night so you can't see much). Complete waste of time watching this one, 'brilliant' and a 'work of art' this AINT!!!

It had potential with the great "Metropolis"-style set design, but the vampire-like bad guys were hopelessly corny. It might work for a teenager.

Odd movie - it seemed to have all the right ingredients but was just an okay, forgettable watch. I think what was missing (to elevate it to the realms of classics like Bladerunner) was that you were... Read more
