Read more indian clothing/weapons was original and borrowed from the museum of man, all the indians in the film were taught to speak Sioux, ( if they didnt already ).
Kevin costner also made a dvd called 5oo nations ( documentary ) about american indian tribes, it was made shortly after making dances with wolves.
I'd never seen this one before, and had to wonder what I'd been missing! It was an educational insight into the ways of the American Indians, and to regret how the inevitable coming of the white man obliterated this culture.
I have to write 50 characters to get my review posted, but really all I need to say is an absolute must!
Dances With Wolves is a wonderful movie and I always love watching it. It was great getting the DVD but as we enjoy this movie so often we think we will buy our own copy.

A very good movie especially when you have Kevin Costner acting in it!! Loved the connection learnt between himself and the Indian Tribe, heck as well as the Wolf...Had to love his horse, very clever, hehe...Enjoy

Would... Read more be good to see the director's cut of this being made available, as it does link some crucial points in the movie that you wouldn't see.
A friend complains this is a slow movie, but that is what I like about it. I would be interested to know how accurate the portrayal of the Indians is ? Where is Kevin Costner today?
