Audrey Tautou stars as legendary French designer Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel in this lively biopic that explores the fashion icon's storied ascension from orphan to seamstress and cabaret singer and ultimately, the queen of Parisian haute couture. Alessandro Nivola plays Arthur "Boy" Capel, Chanel's lover and influential business investor who makes a lifelong impact on the young woman.

I loved this, I thought it was a vast improvement on the other 'chanel' movie with Shirley Maclaine. While this was shorter and consequently less detailed, it captured the essence to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Seemed to more about the fact that many women of the period had a choice between various kinds of prostitution, if they were poor. Not much has changed in 100 years. It wasn't so much about Coco, specifically.

Excellent film. I watched it twice, once without subtitles and then with subtitles. Enjoyed the second filming even better. Such good acting.

I really enjoyed this film - always interesting to see life from a different cultural perspective than just your own. Well filmed and great acting, it flowed well.
