Fabulous movie with excellent camera work! Completely provided the 'real' camera shoot feeling. Brings the characters into their depths and keeps you engrossed.
The storyline is paper-thin and struggles to support the already short film length of 1 hour 20 mins. The characters shout "Rob! Rob!" and "Run! Run!" again and again - that's about the depth of it... Read more. I gave it 2 stars because cinematography (despite the shaky camera thing) and special effects are good. But it's boring in long stretches. The romantic angle is soppy and cliched.
The synopsis of this movie showed promise that was not reflected in the movie itself. We persevered to the end and were left wanting. The constant amateur video recording was abysmal as were the flash backs. We regret getting the movie.
Waste of time and effort, to dark to see most times , very boring.
One of the most internet hyped films of 2007/2008 and worth every second people spent on their blogs speculating about what it was that was that was attacking New York city. The plot line is fairly... Read more basic. What make this film stand out above all the other monster films of its type is how it is made. Told from the "found" footage of the Digital Video camera the entire film is shot from that perspective - similar to The Blair Witch Project. Full of eerie and genuinely scary moments this is a real rollercoaster of a film - ignore the first 20 minutes of set up - after the first earthquake and explosion it is all on. If you are susceptable to motion sickness though be carefull. A lot of the camera work jumps around and shakes as a real video camera in the hands of a an amature would. This effect is lessened on the small screen (I saw it originally at the theatre and my partner felt quite ill towards the end). But the final minutes are breathtaking and when you finally see the monster in all its glory it was worth waiting for.
total waste of time. premise of movie sounded great and came highly recommended by fatso sales-rep. extremely disappointing and did not watch it all as got fed up
Awesome movie! I never watched Blair Witch, and didn't expect this kind of camera work to be any good. But it works extremely well in this movie, there are only 2 or 3 scenes where I would've wanted... Read more the camera to point somewhere else.
Not too much is left to imagination, which is good, and the end is fantastic, not the typical, boring Hollywood end.
Its all quite believable (if one can say that about a movie like this).
The movie got off to an interesting start in the first 20 mins then became a slow climb up the hill. Not a big fan of the way the movie was shot.
Not a fan of this movie. I don't really like movies that are made in this fashion and the story line was a bit weak. I didn't actually watch the whole thing cause it didn't grip me in the first half hour.
interesting way of showing the storyline and nice characters but i want more info...leaves you wanting to know more
