Wow! We really loved this one, much better than we expected from the 3-star rating. I would give it 4 1/2. Great plot, really well-realised characters for the genre and great performances (was that... Read more Brad Pitt as himself?). Would recommend this to anyone with a slightly warped sense of humour.
Possibly the worst waste of a disc I have ever seen. A movie with all these amazing actors should be a great film but it isn't. I saw this film at the cinemas and throughout the whole film there was... Read more only one tiny amount of laughter from the audience. Myself and several patrons thought it was so bad we tried to get our money back! Don't bother wasting your time getting this movie out it will only disappoint!
Movie with all the big names, should be a good view... right? Well, this did not meet any expectations.... story was all over the show, struggling to make a point - didn't have a "balance". Will not recommend this movie to anyone!
This was really disappointing. It was funny for first half hour and then I got bored. Even with the big stars in it (and I'm big fans of them) it just din't cut the mustard.
I really enjoyed this movie. It was good how it all came together in the end in 'Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels' style. Good cast with a few good laughs. All round a good movie
This is nothing short of magnificent. It has a terrifically complex and hilariously black script which simply never misses a beat. Every performance is note-perfect. This is EXTREMELY unusual film-making... Read more and gives the absolute lie to the oft-repeated canard that Americans don't do irony. Man, is this one terrific movie. But if you're stuck in the groove of traditional film story-telling, (and obviously there's nothing wrong with that) then maybe you better forget this one, because there just isn't much like it anywhere outside the Coen Brothers.
fast paced story, stupidly funny black comedy... excellent cast of characters, twist of an ending... worth a view!!
As others have said, not the best of the Coens but nevertheless a sly and funny undermining of the CIA and the way it operates. The surprise of this movie is Brad Pitt who excels in a comic role. John... Read more Malkovich plays the sort of laid-back role that he has done many times before, and by now he's almost perfect at it. And then there's the womanising George Clooney, with his brilliantly insincere 1000-watt smile... Great stuff!
The terrific script is backed up with the right casting and from major to small parts they all deliver their lines to best effect. The quality of the supporting cast makes a big difference and the... Read more scenes featuring JK Simmons with David Rasche are classic. Another Cohen Bros. ripper.
If you love the Coen Brother's off-beat taste and humour, you might enjoy this. I thought it was painful. The problem is that it's meant to be funny, but apart from George Clooney, who can be funny, nobody else is.
